What are your plans for the summer? by Rigdon

My plans for the summer are, I have this math book with who knows how many pages, but if I do one page I get a quarter. And I have got a thousand books I'm going to read in the summer and test on the first day of school. I'm going to write each day. And do grammer. On July fourth I go to my grandma and grandpa's house and blow up fireworks. And I'll save my money to buy a big thing. I think summer is going to be fun.
This is a paper written by Rigdon. I have to admit I was laughing and crying while reading this. I ordered a whole bunch of books, and we were given even more books by a friend, I also bought some workbooks to do over the summer and I have been talking all of this stuff up so much so we actually do it. Although after reading this paper I am thinking about letting my kids have a real summer and just be kids-instead of what Rigdon wrote that sounded more like summer school.
P.S. For those of you that know us...we really do A LOT of fun stuff in the summer.

Swimming Lessons

So Caroline is taking Swimming lessons right now ( I like to do the lessons before summer starts so the kids are all water safe and we get the most bang for our buck). A little background...Rig and Livi both swam early and had no fear of the water. Caroline on the other hand has a love obsession for her "ring" and thinks that she swims perfectly well ( with it of course). The first day of swim lessons she sat on the step and pulled the I don't speak or understand a word card. She did let the teacher pull her around the pool in her arms. Afterwards the teacher said to pepper her with compliments to build her confidence. Reluctantly and trying to be a little honest on the way to the car I said, "Wow Caroline, you did pretty good today"! To which she replied, "Well I didn't do bery (very) good". (I had to look away to hide my smile-she's no dummy, she knows when she's being lied to). I then said, "yea that's true, but you are going to do VERY good tomorrow right?"

I love these freckles!

On a walk

Mother's day brunch

Me and Rigdon at the mother's day breakfast put on  by the second grade. I LOVE that Rigdon's school puts so much emphasis on family, they had donuts with dad last year and games for the kids to play outside with their dads. This year was breakfast for the mom's, with an adorable program put on by the kids and take note of my placesetting and stationary made by Rig! We had fun. Watching Rigdon grow up is one of my greatest joys, and I love things like this!

Cousins Yeah!

This is Penny.  She is Jessica's Baby.  She was seven pounds six ounces.  Born on May 15th.  We can't wait to meet her.
This is Millie.  She was six pounds 11 ounces.  She is Roxanne's baby.  She was born May 14th. We can't wait to meet her either.  This is the first time we have ever gotten two cousins from both sides of the family at the same time.  Hopefully the cousins are going to start rolling in now, better late than never.  We actually had a great cousin year and look forward to lots more cousins.

Picture shoot

Here are the 3 year old pictures I took of caroline. I still have so much to learn and not much time to learn but I love trying to get cute pictures. Caroline is curious, goofy, sweet and playful which is what I try to capture when I take my kids pictures.

F.Y.I.

I am publishing my blog from last year, which has changed the way I am blogging this year. I am making it more for myself and my family- it is more of our lives, and my thoughts. This may or may not bore you, but at least now you know. It is also becoming my creative outlet. I really like to paint and redecorate, but you can only paint so many rooms and things before you run out of money and things to paint. This is also a lot less time consuming, especially when you blog the way I do...when it rains it pours! I actually write many blog posts in my head daily, few ever see the actual blog because I try to at least get the most memorable stuff.

New title

So you have probably noticed that I have a new title. I like it because I have always thought of my kids as my most precious possession... or gems. My sister in law coined the phrase in a famous birthday rap that the girls were our ruby red gems, and I loved it. Especially because I have THREE daughters who are all red heads, and there is a scripture that says a virtuous woman is more precious than rubies ( which is my ultimate desire for all my kids). Rigdon happens to be my diamond in the rough because he is my only sweet boy and a blonde. So there you have it WAY more info than you ever wanted about my reasons for a new title.

Just what the Dr. ordered

Rangi and I had the opportunity to go to an awesome restaurant on PCH for his cousins wedding. We got dressed up, washed the car, got a baby sitter and had an awesome five course dinner with an ocean view. (Thanks for inviting us Darrel and Sheila)! I felt overloaded on mothering as we were driving down, but as we spent time with family, enjoyed a great dinner and the most important thing for me personally was watching her video and realizing how fast little girls grow up to be beautiful brides. I am re-committed to mothering because it really does go so fast!
